Safari Chic

Safari Chic

The most iconic trends can often be traced back to the visionary, Yves Saint Laurent.  From "Le Smoking" the first tuxedo for women, to the gypsy collection that inspired the boho trend of today all the way to safari chic.  His ability to think outside the box, and turn social norms on their head, lead fashion to where it is today.

In his honor, we've chosen a couple of our favorite safari inspired looks of the season.  We saw the trend all over the runways and now it's time to incorporate it into your wardrobe.  It can be preppy, glam as well as edgy, so whatever your style preference, it's an easy one to mix in.

From L to R: Max Mara laser cut leather tote bag, Love Heals wrap bracelet, Sara Weinstock 18K gold "Alexandria" earrings with diamonds and sapphires, Fabiana Filippi linen and suede vest, Closed "Starlet" jean, Vince striped cotton shirt, Rag & Bone floral print scarf, Sara Weinstock 18K gold and Oxidized sterling silver bangles, Shiraleah calf hair clutch, Closed suede pop-over & Current/Elliott "The Cuffed Skinny" jean

Lively in Linen

Lively in Linen

Linen is no longer limited to wrinkled suits and tropical vacations.  It's a fabrication that can be worn all year long, in the city, and in basically any silhouette you can think of.  It can be tailored and crisp when woven or soft and breezy when knit, the options are endless.

With spring here and summer around the corner it's a good time to take inventory of your linen pieces to see what needs updating or what you're missing.

Linen dresses have come a long way in the past couple years, no longer are are they simply boxy and stiff shifts, now you can find lightweight, beachy rompers and dresses as well as sleek and slim styles that can take you from work to date night. And as always, let's not forget the classic linen popover, now embellished with a touch of sparkle or military epaulets, it's a piece you'll find yourself wearing all summer long.

Closed linen field jacket, Majestic double layer linen tee, Closed "Starlet" jeans, G. Kero "Magic Lion" cotton scarf, Rene Escobar bangles & Annabel Ingall "Isabella" tote

A lightweight tailored jacket is an easy addition to your closet, throw it on over a striped Majestic linen tee and jeans to channel your inner French girl.

Spring Denim Essentials

Spring Denim Essentials

We've touched briefly on a few denim silhouettes for spring, we're talking about you crop flare, but we wanted to dive deeper into this season's trends.  We have the usual suspects for warmer weather - boyfriend jeans, shorts, major distressing and white denim everything - but there are a few more interesting and unexpected styles out there that we are super excited about.

You'll find released hems on just about every denim style you can think of, from jeans and shirts to dresses, it's a quick way to add some extra texture to your outfit and also a little edge.

The LDD (little denim dress) is another one we love.  It can be as simple as a chambray shirt dress all the way to a breezy yet tailored wrap dress or even a bold maxi dress.  These dresses will give you lot of mileage during the spring and summer months, moving easily from day to evening by simply changing your accessories.

A classic piece that's made a comeback, is the high waist mini skirt. We saw it in suede for winter and it's returned in denim with a raw hem for spring and summer.  Pair this piece with a fitted white tee and your favorite gladiator sandals for a classic summer ensemble.

From L to R: Closed "Starlet" jean, Current/Elliott trucker jacket with rolled sleeves, Closed wrap dress and released hem top & Current/Elliott "Naval" skirt.

The best part about jeans and denim, is the countless ways you can wear each piece.  Even with raw edges, distressing and holes, you can dress your pieces up for a fun night out or down for a weekend spent with your family.

Trend Report - Outerwear for Fall

Trend Report - Outerwear for Fall

Fall is just around the corner (le sigh...) in preparation for the coming change of seasons, we've pulled together a few of our favorite outerwear trends.  All three are classics that have been updated in unexpected yet totally wearable ways.

Don't be fooled, a puffer does not have to be sporty.  It's all in the details with these elegant down jackets, snaps, belts and rose gold zippers along with sophisticated silhouettes elevate the Pacific Northwest staple to another level.

Double-faced wool is one of the ultimate luxury fabric, and there is no shortage this Fall.  The light weight makes these coats perfect for mild, Portland winters as well as easy for travel and layering.

A drapey, open cardigan is the easiest and most versatile piece you can get for Fall.  Wear them over a dress with a belt or throw them on over jeans and a tee, you seriously can't go wrong.
