Designer to Know: Day Birger et Mikkelsen

You may have noticed a new collection popping up on our social media, we're pleased to introduce to you Day Birger et Mikkelsen!

Founded 1997 by Keld Mikkelsen, Day Birger et Mikkelsen is a contemporary collection heavily influenced by men's tailoring, Asian textiles and of course, Scandinavian simplicity.  It is a study in contrasts - east meets west, sharp vs. soft, sleek yet embellished - the pieces are instant classics with a touch of something special that will blend seamlessly into your wardrobe.  His keen eye produces sleek, seemingly simple, exquisitely tailored silhouettes made in luxe fabrics, with exotic yet subtle pattern and embroidery.

From L to R: leather blazer, print silk shell, eyelet popover, eyelet t-shirt with pocket and silk shirt dress.

Eyelet tops, graphic layering sweaters, a totally timeless leather blazer and silk shirt dresses are some of our favorite pieces form this season.  You can see they will pair so easily with your leather leggings from Vince, your denim skinnies from Frame and even your Via Masini trousers for a more polished look.

We are confident that Day Birger et Mikkelsen will quickly become a new favorite for you, it definitely is for us!

Designer to know: Weekend Max Mara

Designer to know: Weekend Max Mara

When one thinks of Max Mara, luxe wool, supple leather and rich fur probably come to mind. But Max Mara is much more than that.

Launched in 1984, Weekend Max Mara is the off duty defusion line of Max Mara Collection. Originally designed as a casual and outdoor, weekend-ready collection it has since evolved into a well rounded, sporty yet sophisticated line complete with loads of color, prints and easy to wear and versatile silhouettes. It's filled with all the signature fabrics one finds in Collection, beautiful wool, leather, silk and down, but with a youthful twist.

We've pulled together a few of our favorite Pre-Fall pieces - we have a soft spot for their outerwear - that are available now.

If you've been reading the blog, you've probably noticed our love for Weekend.  Don't let the name fool you, these pieces will take you straight from the office, to date night or even a weekend at the coast.  It's an all inclusive collection filled with wardrobe staples that you won't tire of.

Designer to know: G. Kero

Designer to know: G. Kero

If you've walked by the store lately and peeked in the front window, you've probably noticed the newest collection that we're all going wild about.

G. Kero

Marguerite Bartherotte - an artist and musician - initially created custom, hand painted t-shirts for friends while she was a student studying animation and drawing.  The brand, G. Kero, developed naturally from those one-of-a-kind, raw edged t-shirts to a curated and colorful collection that includes shirts, dresses, shorts, jackets and skirts.

Inspired by music, her hometown Cap Ferret, wild animals and a general Joie de Vivre, Marguerite creates each print with the garment in mind.  Although they could be considered "statement" pieces, the styles are easy to wear and integrate into your spring wardrobe.  Denim, of all washes and colors, is a natural partner to vibrant pattern, whether you throw a jean jacket over a dress or tuck a button down shirt into your favorite high waist jeans.

The artistically rendered illustrations transform every day, cotton garments into wearable art, and what do you know?  We were just looking to expand our collection.
