Safari Chic

Safari Chic

The most iconic trends can often be traced back to the visionary, Yves Saint Laurent.  From "Le Smoking" the first tuxedo for women, to the gypsy collection that inspired the boho trend of today all the way to safari chic.  His ability to think outside the box, and turn social norms on their head, lead fashion to where it is today.

In his honor, we've chosen a couple of our favorite safari inspired looks of the season.  We saw the trend all over the runways and now it's time to incorporate it into your wardrobe.  It can be preppy, glam as well as edgy, so whatever your style preference, it's an easy one to mix in.

From L to R: Max Mara laser cut leather tote bag, Love Heals wrap bracelet, Sara Weinstock 18K gold "Alexandria" earrings with diamonds and sapphires, Fabiana Filippi linen and suede vest, Closed "Starlet" jean, Vince striped cotton shirt, Rag & Bone floral print scarf, Sara Weinstock 18K gold and Oxidized sterling silver bangles, Shiraleah calf hair clutch, Closed suede pop-over & Current/Elliott "The Cuffed Skinny" jean

Boho Babe

Boho Babe

Spring is finally in full bloom, which means we can break out the other half of our wardrobe that we've been missing so much while bundled in sweaters, scarves and layers and layers of wool.  Ahhh, how refreshing that cotton and linen feels against our skin, not to mention the sunshine!

A spring trend we love - that seems to show up year after year - is the 70's boho babe.  We've got fringe coming out of our ears, ethnic inspired embroidery, exaggerated floral prints and crochet details for days.  You can definitely mix all these elements together with your gladiator sandals for a look that's a bit wild yet totally fun, but it's an easy style to mix subtly into your day to day look.  You can keep it casual by simply adding a peasant blouse to your Mother Denim jeans, plus a couple wrap bracelets and a fringe bag.

Hartford "Horsica" Top, Mother Denim "Drop Out" jean, Rag & Bone wide brim fedora, Jacquie Aiche mini abalone double horn necklace, Love Heals freshwater pearl wrap bracelets
& Day Birger et Mikkelsen fringe hobo bag.

Anther reason we love this trend, is it's versatility, there is no limit to who can wear it or how much you dress it up or down.
