90's Vibes

90's Vibes

The dream of the nineties is alive in fashion. We've seen it all over the runways and on the pages of magazines. From Rag & Bone to Louis Vuitton: slinky slip dresses layered over sheer t-shirts, delicate chokers, distressed everything with fishnets and combat boots.

Unlike the thrift store gear of decades past, this season is a stark contrast with luxe fabrics, sleek silhouettes and accents of fur, leather, subtle sparkle and washed silk.

From L to R: Cotton by Autumn Cashmere maxi cardigan, Vince convertible backpack, Shay 18k rose gold and diamond choker, Vince silk slip dress, McQ knit pullover, Vince leather skirt, Rene Escobar 18k gold, oxidized silver and diamond bangles, Shay 18k white gold and diamond choker and Rag & Bone moto cross-body.

The 90's vibe is a great transitional look that will take you from grey days like today to the heat of the summer (hello slip dress, sandals and backpack!) all the way through fall (remember that fur we mentioned?) while staying edgy and current.

How to wear the Crop Flare

How to wear the Crop Flare

You're probably seeing these jeans everywhere - they're a little funky, a little short and sorta flared - and wondering how and the heck you're supposed to wear them.  Well, you shouldn't be scared by what you don't know...all it takes is a little education.  We are officially obsessed with this denim trend that's happening (we have at least four different styles in the store right now) and can't wait for you to love them too.

Current/Elliott rolled sleeve trucker jacket, Max Mara stripe sweater, AG Jeans "Jodi" crop flare, Loren Stewart necklace and bracelets, Shiraleah leather tote bag.

1.  They should be cropped, but not too cropped.  If you happen to be tall they may hit you a little higher right above the ankle, but that's okay.  You really want the hem of the jeans to barely hit the top of your favorite ankle booties.

2.  The flares range from baby-bells to just the slightest kick.  Choose a silhouette you're comfortable with, whether it's a super flare or or not, and you'll be much more likely to sport these all year long.

3. Until you've grown comfortable with the trend, let the jeans do the talking and keep your other silhouettes simple and classic.  A pair of cropped flares pair perfectly with a striped tee, work wear jacket, suede booties and a messy bun for day or a crisp white shirt, a pair of sky high pumps and a bold lip for evening.

We can't wait to see how you interpret this new denim look, we know it'll be totally fab.

Trend Report - NY Fashion Week

Trend Report - NY Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is over and London Fashion Week is in full swing, which means our buyers just got back from NYC, where they were shopping the Spring 2016 collections.  While the rest of us are switching our closets from Summer to Fall and wondering where September went, a lucky few are already thinking ahead to next Spring.  We're happy to see that some of our favorite Fall trends are making an extended appearance into next season.

Leather - Leather is going to be around for a while.  We saw it cut in feminine silhouettes and paired with delicate lace details at RED Valentino as well as super luxe, yet totally sporty separates at ATM.  No matter your personal style, you'll be able to find a leather piece for spring that fits seamlessly into your wardrobe.

Menswear -  From sleek, tailored suits to lightweight blazers paired with oversized sweatshirts, the designers were pulling from their brother's closet for inspiration.  We love that the look can be streamlined for work or more formal events à la Theory's peplum blazer and cigarette trousers or kept downtown cool with distressed denim and a cotton tee as seen at Frame.

Sporty - We're excited to see that the athleisure styles are rolling over into Spring.  There's nothing better than looking super chic while wearing joggers (in leather no less) and a beautiful, not so plain, white tee.  Although the trend leans casual, the luxury fabrications seen on the runway certainly make it translate to after 5.

Bold Colors and Graphic Prints - From neon yellow tweed at Rag & Bone to dazzlingly graphic knit dresses in a rainbow of colors at M Missoni, spring is not lacking in color.  If a midi dress in a highlighter hue isn't your thing, you will find smaller pieces, from sweaters to cross-body bags, available in a rainbow of shades to get your color fix.
