2017 Wardrobe Detox

2017 Wardrobe Detox

We made it to January. Phew! 2016 has certainly been a whirlwind, which makes the fresh start of a new year even more inviting.

As we do every year, January is time for our annual closet overhaul.  We're far enough into the winter season to know what we'll be wearing till the weather warms up, and have enough distance from Spring and Summer to know what we don't want or need anymore.

There are easy rules to follow when deciding what to toss and what to keep that will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed or making any decisions you might regret (we're thinking of those special pieces we impulsively sold).

Quite simply, if you love it, don't toss it. Even if you haven't worn an item in years, place it in storage for safe keeping and move onto the next piece.  As for what to toss?  If you don't love it plus it doesn't fit or you haven't worn it in over a year or it's damaged beyond repair or outdated then you can do one of three things.  Repair/alter, sell or donate.

From L to R: Vince cotton sweater, Rag & Bone "Dre" jean, ATM stripe tee, Mother "Looker Crop" jean & Veronica Beard "Schoolboy" jacket.

We like to fill in a few key pieces after our detox, wardrobe essentials that we will wear and love: denim, a stripe tee, a year-round sweater and a timeless blazer.

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve

Comfort isn't the first thing that comes to mind when planning a New Year's Eve ensemble - it's probably sequins, sparkle and sexy - but its certainly something to consider. We like the idea of a festive outfit that you'll feel great in, no fuss required.

Pants in a silver hue are a fabulous solution, perfect when paired with a graphic top and metallic accented accessories and strappy heels.  For an unexpected and slightly more low-key outfit, pair your favorite Fair Isle sweater with a mini skirt and leather booties.

From L to R: M Missoni broken zig-zag top, rTa silver leather jeans, Rene Escobar 18k gold, sterling silver and diamond bangles, Red Valentino Fair Isle sweater & McQ skirt.

We had so much fun filming our New Year's Eve style segment with More Good Day Oregon, check out the outfits in action below!

Have a happy and healthy New Year!

Party Ready

Party Ready

There's no better way to spread some Christmas cheer during holiday party season than with your clothes.  You don't have to go full on Mrs. Claus, but a little red, gold and green can be worn in just the right way to look both festive and chic.

Few designers do prints better than Red Valentino: with metallic brocade, bold colors and sparkling accents, this maxi dress will add just the right amount of joy to your ensemble.  Keep your accessories simple, with pops of burgundy and gold to accent the colors and textures in the dress.

From L to R: Red Valentino brocade dress, Shay Jewelry starburst choker, Julez Bryant bangles and Vince embossed leather cross-body.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with family, fun and of course, fashion!

Going Green

Going Green

There's a new neutral in town, and it's not what you expected.  Green is the go-to for the fall/winter season.  It's showing up in every shade you can imagine, from deep, dark forest to pops of bright and vibrant mint.  We love all the variations, but have a soft spot for the rich, deep greens that make an easy alternative (or compliment) to black and charcoal.

From L to R: Grisal cashmere scarf, Serpui shearling bag, Rag & Bone capri suede jeans, RtA Rita silk shirt, Veronica Beard car coat, Jack Gomme tote bag, Rag & Bone Vivienne top, Frame Denim jeans, Veronica Beard military jacket with dickie.

It fun to think outside the box when it comes to neutrals, and you'll be a hit in your LGD (little green dress).

Dark and Stormy

Dark and Stormy

We may live in the land of athleisure, but that doens't mean sporty can't be chic.  With the stormy weather we've been experiencing, it's hard not to reach for what's the most cozy and comfortable against the wind and rain.  The puffer - once a staple of skiers and athletes - has been elevated to new levels of chic by nearly every one of our favorite designers.  Made with ethically harvested down, while featuring subtle, sophisticated colors and silhouettes, this piece is a now brainer when it comes to outerwear.

Herno 3/4 quilted jacket, J Brand leather jean with ankle zip, Rag & Bone "Natasha" cashmere sweater, Grisal scarf, Rene Escobar 18k gold and sterling silver bangles with diamonds, Jack Gomme "Anna" shoulder bag.

Pair your puffer with slim layers to avoid the marshmallow look.  A cashmere turtleneck and stretchy leather jeans accented with luxe accessories will keep you warm and stylish, no matter the weather report.
